Advisory Board
A growing Advisory Board now includes:
Chief William H. Austin, Fire Chief of the West Hartford Fire Department, Chairman of the Capitol Region Emergency Planning Committee and Member of the Connecticut State Emergency Management and Homeland Security Advisory Council. Chief Austin has over 20 years experience in Emergency Management and Homeland Security functions. Robin D. Barnes, Professor of Law, University of Connecticut School of Law. Professor Barnes teaches Advanced Constitutional Law, Freedom of Speech, and Contemporary Issue of Race, Culture and Transnational Identity.
Tom Devine, Legal Director, Government Accountability Project.
Mr. Devine is actively involved in a range of issues including national
security and occupational free speech. He also serves as counsel on
whistleblower reform legislation.
Gordon Raley, Director of Strategic Relations, Health
International and former Executive Director of National Assembly of
Health and Human Services Organizations of which the American Red Cross
is a member.
James Rucker,
Executive Director, Color Of Change. ColorOfChange.org is an online
organizing effort similar to MoveOn.org consisting of more than
eighty-five thousand members focused on amplifying black America's
political voice. Prior to founding ColorOfChange, James served as
Director of Grassroots Mobilization for MoveOn.org.
Susan Schmeiser, Associate Professor of Law, University of Connecticut School of Law. Professor Schmeiser teaches Health Law and Mental Health Law.
Dr. Raymond Monsour Scurfield,
Director of the Katrina Research Center and Professor, School of Social
Work, University of Southern Mississippi—Gulf Coast. Dr. Scurfield is a
Vietnam veteran and had a distinguished 25-year mental health
leadership career with the VA. Dr. Scurfield was the 2006 Mississippi
Social Worker of the Year for his post-Katrina efforts.
Michael Stoops, Acting Executive Director, National Coalition for the Homeless.
Lt. Gov. Kevin B. Sullivan, Former Connecticut Lt. Governor and President Pro Tempore of the State Senate from 1997-2004. As Lieutenant Governor, he led the CT Community Mental Health Cabinet as a strong advocate for mental health care reform. In the Senate, he pushed for homeland security and emergency management system improvements. Holly A. Zanville, Doctoral Candidate in Clinical Psychology at George Mason University with a specific interest in community mental health and trauma. |
