While disasters are inherently messy and even the best planning cannot prevent all relief effort problems. Gaps in critical services are likely to cause more suffering, especially when they are not addressed. When Disaster Accountability Monitors shine the light on these gaps, they are more likely to get addressed. Disaster Accountability Monitors have four key functions: 1) disseminate the toll-free hotline number (866-9-TIP-DAP) 2) assist individuals with reporting gaps in disaster response/relief services 3) help verify reported gaps 4) help publicize gaps Each monitor signs up to "cover" a geographic region of their choosing. It can be a 5, 10, 25, 50 (or more) mile radius from your home.
